pancreas is both endocrine and endocrine because it produces both enzymes and hormones. it is an organ located in abdomen.it plays an essential role for converting food we eat into fuel for body cells. it's endocrine system helps in regulating blood sugar and it's endocrine system helps in digestion

*pancreas is soft lobulated Greyish pink gland
* it located posteriously to stomach in the abdominal cavity
* it is also called as mexocrine gland as it consist of both exocrine and endocrine part .
*exocrine part of pancreas secrete digestive enzymes while endocrine part of pancreas secrete hormones
*exocrine part of pancreas consists of acinar cells these cells produce enzymes that helps in digestion .when food enters the stomach exocrine cells release the pancreatic enzymes into a stomach through pancreatic duct .
*endocrine part of pancreas consist of groups of islets of langerhans . thses islets consists of Three Types of cells which secrete hormones . Alpha cells ,Beta cells and Delta cells .
* Alpha cells present at the Periphery and secrete glucagon hormone .
* Beta cells secrete insulin hormone .
*Delta cells secrete gastrin and somatostatin hormones.
