how parents give their traits to their offspring??

genetic material passes from one generation next.

during fertilization the DNA of both parents is involved and form zygote i.e., reach progeny.

traits are the characteristics resembled by an organism.

these traits are passed in such a way that, if one character say, height...here other has short height and father has tall height...here tall height is dominant and short height is resessive.ultimately the dominant trait is resembled by the offspring.
