gandhi ji inaugurated the civil disobedience movement by conducting the historic dandi salt March, where he broke the salt law imposed by the British government. ...accompanied by his followers,gandhi ji embarked on a protest March from his sabarmati ashram to dandi that is located on the shores of the Arabian Sea. .,on 6th April 1930, gandhi ji with his followers violated the salt law by picking up a handful of salt lying on the sea shore ....   • ★ Being producers of commercial crops ,they were very hard hit by trade depression and falling prices ,as a result their cash income disappeared, they found impossible to pay the government 's revenue demand and led to widespread resentment.This rich peasant become supporter of civil disobedience movement.

  • ★ Poor peasants also joined movement not because of lowering demand but many of them were small tenants cultivating land they had rented form landlords .As depression continued cash incomes dwindled ,the small tenants found it difficult to pay the rent so they joined the movement
  • ★ For business classes , trade and merchants wanted to protection against import of foreign goods ,for this region they also decided to join civil disobedience movement
