how phenolphthalein acts as an indicator to distinguish between sulphuric acid solution and sodium hydroxide solution.​

phenolphthalein is a colourless indicator when it is added to sulphuric acid (which is a acid) there is no change in colour. But when added to sodium hydroxide it turns pink.
