Plants provide us with food, fiber, shelter, medicine, and fuel. ... In the process of food production, oxygen is released. This oxygen, which we obtain from the air we breathe, is essential to life. The only source of food and oxygen are plants; no animal alone can supply these.

Answer: This may help you

Explanation:

Plants are living organisms that can live on land or water. They have many different forms such as huge trees, others are herbs or some have bushy form. The basic food for all organisms is produced by green plants. Plants help in maintaining oxygen balance, the most important gas that enable us to breathe. Animals emit carbon dioxide by taking in oxygen. This rise in carbon dioxide levels in air is reduced by plants. Removal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere reduces the greenhouse effect and global warming. It also maintains the ozone layer that helps protect Earth’s life from damaging UV radiation. Humans directly or indirectly depend on plants for several of their needs.

Plants/trees play a very important role in our life. They fulfil our food, fodder fuel, timber, fibre and medicinal needs. Plants/trees are helpful in mitigation of environmental pollution. They are the source of oxygen and sink of carbon dioxide Trees such as Tamarind Ashok and Neem are very useful in control of noise pollution. Plants/trees are also helpful in restoration of degraded lands. Furthermore, plants are useful in removal of heavy metals from the contaminated sites. Trees are helpful in the maintenance of ground water level.

Bit of personal initiative can only save the plants after plantation. It should be not be like most of the mass plantation programme where maximum zeal is shown during plantation primarily for taking photographs of the dignitaries. No one takes care to nurture the plants thereafter. In my opinion for any kind of plantation programme local people must be involved.
