Socioeconomic conditions of women are not so great. There are issues like sexual harassment, prejudices, domestic violence etc faced by women. They are considered weaker sex and have a dependent role on other family members. There is constant struggle for equality and justice between men and women.  In the economic sphere, she is not given control over resources, decision making in financial matters etc. Women do more hazardous and manual labour jobs than the men.  Indian society is plagued by patriarchy that has lead to the deplorable conditions of women.

Feminism's movement and women's movement have played a great role in improving the legal status of women.They always demand for the augmentation of women's representation in politics.They are seen protesting against violence,harassment,beating against women.They laid emphasis on better career and educational opportunities for women.They are seen demanding justice for the suffered girls and women.They also demand equality in family laws of different religions.
