The british scientist j.b.s haldane suggested in 1929 that life must have originated from inanimate matter consisting of simple inorganic molecules such as methane ,ammonia,  hydrogensulphide etc , which were present on the earth soon after it was formed.  The evidence for the origin of life from the inanimate matter was provided by the experiments conducted by stanley l.miller and harold c.urey in 1953. They assembled an apparatus to create sn early earth atmosphere which was supposed to consist of gases like methane , ammonia etc over water . This was maintained at temparature jst below 100 degree c and electric sparks were passed through the mixture of gases for one week . At the end of the week it was found that 15 percent of carbon frm methane hadbeen converted into simple compounds of carbon including amino acids which makeup the protein molecules found in living organisms . This experiment provides the evidence that life originated frm inanimate matter.
