Immunisation is the process of enhancing ones immune system by introducing them with inactive form of disease causing agent also known as antigen .the principle of vaccination or immunisation is based on the property of memory of the immune system.
The antibody produced in the body against these antigen would neutralize the pathogenic agents during actual infection . The vaccination also generates memory the cells recognise the pathogen in next Atack and kill them more quickly with large production of antibodies.
that's what happens with polio too. Weak antigens of polio is introduced in our body which is easily killed with creating a memory.so next time polio virus attacks the body kills it faster and with massive production of antibodies. Hope this helps.

The principle of immunization is implemented for eliminating polio in the following ways:

  • Immunization is the process to enhance a person's immune system by administrating an inactive form of the pathogen (immunogen).
  • This body develops antibodies to fight against the inactive pathogen and stores it in its 'memory'.
  • If attacked again by the same pathogen, the immune system gives a faster and stronger response and eliminates the disease.
  • Polio is caused by the poliovirus. Since it is a viral disease, it cannot be treated by antibiotics and drugs.
  • To eliminate polio, the principle of vaccination is employed. The polio vaccine contains inactivated poliovirus that is given orally in the form of drops.
  • It does not cause disease but signals the body to produce an immune response.
  • If the person is attacked by the active form of the virus later then the immunized body will remember that virus and will fight against it.
