the art of keeping warm with blankets or quilts is different than keeping warm in a sleeping bag.

The best blankets and quilts are designed and made with natural fibers like cotton, silk, down, or wool. In a quilt all these fibers are all layered (like the filling of a sandwich) between the front and the back of the quilt. All of these fibers” breathe” which means that air circulates through them and is released into the surrounding space.

That’s one very important reason why when buying bedding you want to be sure that all the various sheets, blankets, and quilts/ bed spreads/ duvets are made from all natural fibers.

Combining cotton sheets with a synthetic fiber blanket is a sure way to have a very hot, horrible night’s sleep. Unless of course you like sleeping in a sauna.

Sleeping bags, on the other hand, are designed so that the air inside the sleeping bag is trapped within the bag itself. That’s why sleeping bags are given R ratings (just like the insulation in your house) and you buy them according to how cold the outside air will be.

HOPE THIS HELPS YOU A LOT.....
