After it rain there are water droplets in teh sky. as the sunlight passes through the water droplets, it gets scattered into all the colours. Because different wavelengths of light scatter at different amount, the colours separate to form the rainbow.

After a rain, there are many water droplets that stay in the atmosphere. When sunlight passes through these droplets ( which acts as prism) , the white light disperses into seven colours forming a rainbow.
