This passage mainly occurs due to gravity so, external pressure is not required.

But sometimes in a low lying area, sewage pumps are installed which applies an acting force for the passage of wastes.

So, by removal of pump, the sewage system will be blocked by wastes and will not be collected in main sewer. Accumulation of the waste in the sewage system will damage the system or the pipe might break open as it gets overflowed with wastes.
