Natural resources are available to sustain the very complex interaction between living things and non-living things. Humans also benefit immensely from this interaction. All over the world, people consume resources directly or indirectly. Developed countries consume resources more than under-developed countries

Eyerything available in our environment which can be used to satisfy our needs, provided we have the technology to make it accessible and economically feasible, can be termed as a Resource.

Humans beings interact with nature through technology and create institutions to fulfill their needs. Gifts of nature , such as Air, water , Soil, forest and minerals , as well as man- made creations , such as buildings, houses, transport etc. are resources because they satisfy our needs.

Human beings are also termed as resource because they have the ability , Skill and knowledge to find new uses of the existing resources and to find new resources.

A thing becomes a resource only when it's utility has been identified , for eg :- oil has existed on Earth for million of years , but it becomes a resource only when a man learnt to use it for transport and other uses. So, when a thing becomes useful, it becomes a resource.

people make use of the varied resources with the help of technology. Some resources have to be processed because it increases it's utilitity.

The consumption of resources increases with the development of technology. On the other hand, Indiscriminate use of resources has led to global ecological crises. such as global warming, ozone layer depletion and environmental pollution.

To ensure a continuous supply of a resource , we have to use it judiciously. For continuous economic development , we must ensure the availability of resources in the future.
