hey,

Carbon dioxide is a waste product of respiration and in the lungs it passes out of the blood and is breathed out. Respiration is a chemical process when glucose or other sugars react with oxygen to produce energy. It produces carbon dioxide and water as waste products.

Respiration is a form of oxidation.

Glucose is oxidised to CO2 and H2O (along with release of energy) at the cells by the oxygen from air we breathe in.

C6H12O6 + 6 O2 = 6 CO2 + 6 H2O

Since glucose is converted into new products with different composition, respiration is a chemical change.
