Carbohydrates present in food are broken down to form glucose. This glucose combines with Oxygen in the cells of our body and provides energy. This reaction is known as respiration. Hence, respiration is considered as anexothermic reaction.

Hey...!! may be it will help u..
So, Respiration is exothermic because it breaks the bonds of glucose to release energy. Respiration involves the oxidation of glucose, to produce energy(38 ATP) from cells. The energy produced is actually heat energy, so, as heat is released, Respiration is an exothermic process. haapy to help u :)
