The rise of nationalism in Europe initiated with the Spring of Nations in 1848.[citation needed]This year at the same time popular liberal artist Frédéric Sorrieu created a series of four prints that was known as "La republique universalle democratique èt socialle".In this print Sorrieu presents four prints known as "Le Pacte","Le Prologue","Le Triomphe","Le Marche" which in total visualize 48 utopias.According to Leon- Baradat, nationalism calls on people to identify with the interests of their national group and to support the creation of a state – a nation-state – to support those interests.
