ROBERT HOOKE DISCOVERED CELL IN 1665, HE MADE HIS OWN MICROSCOPE AND SEE A LOT OF HONEYCOMB LIKE STRUCTURES IN THE CORK. HE NAMED THEM CELLS.THAT TIME CELL MEANS 'SMALL EMPTY ROOMS'. ACTUALLY HE SAW DEAD CELLS WITH ONLY CELL WALL COZ IN THE CORK THE CELL ARE DEAD. SO HE NAMED ACCORDINGLY.

In 1665 Robert Hooke was watching a piece of cork under a microscope and he saw that the cork cells contained compartment like a honeycomb he named the honeycomb like structure as cell
