The Indian secularism works to prevent the domination of the State through the strategy of noninterference.
That is, in order to respect the sentiments of all religions and not interfere with religious practices the State makes certain exceptions for particular religious communities. For example; Sikhs men have beam exempted from wearing helmets as it would have prevented them from wearing the turbans, their religious symbol.
The Indian constitution respects and is neutral to all the religions. In the matters of personal law, the Indian constitution has not interfered and has allowed each religious group to make their own laws regarding the age of marriage of girls, divorce, and polygamy etc.
