Sex determination is done by the sex chromosomes present in the human body..

The female partner contain XX chromosomes and the male partner contain XY chromosomes..

now,,during meiosis these pairs separate out to form a haploid gamete,,so,now male have two gametes X and Y and female have X and X..

If the X fuses with Y it results into a male body (XY)and if X fuses with another X gametes of opposite sex it results in female body (XX)..

So,,the sex of baby is completely depented on males or father's gametes thus independent from mother's or female's side..
