Human males are always haploid I,e, half the number of chromosomes out of which one pair is sex chromosome having X and Y chromosomes.

Females are also haploid and have X and X chromosomes.

When fertilization takes place if the X chromosome of the male fuses with the X chromosome of the female then the resulting child will be a boy and if the Y chromosome of the male fuses with the X chromosome of the female then the resulting child will be a girl.
