Battle of Pävankhind was a rearguard battle and a last stand that took place on July 13, 1660 at a mountain pass in the vicinity of fort Vishalgad, near the city of Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India between the Marathi CKP[1]sardar Baji Prabhu Deshpande, and Siddi Masud of Adilshah Sultanate.[2][3]

Shivaji Maharaj decided to escape because the provisions in his fort were on the verge to end he could have been then captured easily by Afzal Khan’s troop.
Under these difficult circumstances he decided to escape, so Shivaji Maharaj gathered a small number of soldiers alongside his very much trusted commander Baji Prabhu Deshpande.
They tried and escaped in dead of night and went to Vishalgadh.
Here in meantime BajiPrabhu kept the enemy engaged.
