Well, a primarily supposed idea by many scientists is that all the nuclear waste should be sent off to the Sun by a rocket where it will degrade under the influence of the high temperature of the Sun.

Acto: why not bury under the ground in tanks
astitvastitva: The radiations coming from it would still be extremly harmful. That's another reason that the radioactive waste dump areas are usually located a thousand miles away from the human settlements, maybe some island. But we are running out of dump sites.
Acto: so are there no, radiation proof containers ?? where we could dispose off the radioactive substamce ?
astitvastitva: Just told you. We have the dumping areas.
Acto: okay, thank you, really appreciate it

Yes it's a good idea to transport the waste to the Sun but it's not practical because of the high cost it requires reprocessing can somewhat reduce nuclear waste disposer
