how sodium can be kept in kerosene as kerosene also contains oxygen

Sodium reacts with oxygen, so it has to be kept away from air. ... Sodium is a very reactive metal. It iskept in kerosene to prevent it from coming in contact with oxygen and moisture. If this happens, it will react with the moisture present in air and form sodium hydroxide.

We should keep sodium metal inside the kerosene because sodium is a very reactive metal. If it is exposed in open air it will react with oxygen and starts burning. For avoiding this we should keep it in a place like kerosene where presence of oxygen is not available.
