GIVEN:

x + 3y = 12 ____(1)

3x + y = 12 ____(2)

Multiply the equation (1) with 3 ,

(1) × 3 = > 3x + 9y = 36

Subtract equation (1) &(2) ,

(1) = > 3x + 9y = 36

(2) => 3x + y = 12

(-) (-) (-)

______________________

8y = 24

y = 24 /8

y = 3

Substitute the value of y in equation (2)

(2) => 3x + (3) = 12

3x = 12 - 3

3x = 9

x = 9/3

x = 3

☆》Answer : x = 3 , y = 3《☆

Step-by-step explanation:

let...x+3y=12... equation 1

and 3x+y=12... equation 2

x=12-3y(in equation...1)

put value of x in equation...2

3(12-3y)+y=12

36-9y+y=12

36-8y=12

-8y=12-36

-8y=-24

y=3

now,put value of y in equation...1

x+3×3=12

x+9=12

x=12-9

x=3

so...x=y=3ans.
