Answer:

unlike electromagnetic light waves, sound needs a medium for their propagation....sound waves propagate through a medium by vibrating the air particles in their path by forming compressions and rarefactions

Answer:

Sound needs medium for Propagation

Sound is a form of energy and is produced by a vibrating body through a medium. The vibrating body transfers its energy to the neighbouring molecules in a medium, which in turn passes on the energy to the other molecules. This , sound is propagated.

When air is completely removed from a container, vacuum is created in it. No sound can be produced in such a container as there is no medium for sound to travel.
