There are few things better for a sports fan than watching your team clinch a series at home. It's a cause for celebration.

About the only thing that could be better would be to celebrate with the players who produced the victory. especially when one of the heroes picks up the tab. That's what happened in Kansas City.

There were 40,657 fans in Kauffman Stadium Sunday, the majority of them Royals' fans, enjoying their team's return to baseball's post-season for the first time since 1985. One of the biggest heroes in the three-game sweep of the Los Angeles Angels in the American League Division Series was  K.C. first baseman Eric Hosmer. First he homered in the 11th inning of Game 2 in L.A. Friday to help send the Royals to the verge of a sweep. Sunday he homered again in the third inning with what proved to be the winning runs as his team moved on the ALCS against the Baltimore Orioles.

After the game Royals' players and fans alike celebrated the occasion and Hosmer played the hero again. He offered up his credit card and paid for an open bar for one hour. Imagine if the Royals get past Baltimore and then defeat the National League representative in the World Series. Hosmer may decide to cut back a little on his generosity. But he's certainly pleased a lot of people so far.
