it is safe because of a layer of mucus present in stomach which protect it from deadly hcl

Although the stomach acid is quite strong the stomach lining is safe due to the secretion of mucus that lubricates the stomach wall and does not allow the stomach acid(HCl) to come in the contact of stomach lining ... hopr it helps
