Answer: Technology will have the same impact in rural areas like it is continuing to have in the urban zones. Infrastructure and technology are the basics of development and they facilitate fast transaction of economy, job opportunities, logistics and in turn better living conditions.

A beautiful example is the Telecom Revolution in India. Farmers in rural India are using mobile phones to quickly and effectively share knowledge about quality of seeds and fertilizers, to understand what are the prevailing market rates of their produce and also to interact with their relatives in far off places - all of which was unimaginable some two decades ago.

There are ups and downs about everything. Now we have more cell phones in India than we have toilets here. But at least the use of technology is taking shape.

Rural India pre-1995 and post-1995 is very visible. That is what technology can do for you. I take 1995 as the reference point because that is when the effects of liberalisation, globalisation and privatisation policies had started to come into being.
