There were many ways through which people used to measure approximate time when there was no clock . People took help of their shadow .With the length of the shadow the estimated the time . There was a sundial also.People kept a pole infront of them in an open place . They checked the position of sun whether it is right to the pole or left or completely at the top of our head (pole) and calculated the time....may it help you
