A zygote is formed by the fusion of germ cells . Each germ cell from each parent is a haploid one , means they contain half the number of normal set of chromosomes i.e. only 23 chromosomes .During formation of zygotes , when sperm and egg cell fuses , they restore the number of chromosome in the resulting zygote

A zygote is formed by the fusion of germ cells .

Each germ cell from each parent is a haploid one (with the help of meiosis) , means they contain half the number of normal set of chromosomes i.e. only 23 chromosomes .During formation of zygotes , when sperm and egg cell fuses , they restore the number of chromosome in zygote, i. e. 46.
