Caste not only dictates one's occupation, but dietary habits and interaction with members of other castes as well. Members of a high caste enjoy more wealth and opportunities while members of a low caste perform menial jobs. Outside of the caste system are the Untouchables.

The traditional village economy revolved around a hereditary caste hierarchy that prescribed individuals´ occupations. Upper castes were the landowners, middle-ranked (backward) castes the farmers and artisans, and the lowest-ranked (scheduled) castes the labourers who performed menial tasks.

It spoil up the whole village people as the people who are higher caste are allowed for all..... But people who are of lower caste are not allowed in temples and are not allowed to vote they are considered as untouchable...
