In general, tropical cyclones are named according to the rules at a regional level. It is important to note that tropical cyclones/hurricanes/typhoons are not named after any particular person. The names selected are those that are familiar to the people in each region.

Naming of Cyclone :-
- Tropical cyclones are named by various warning centres for better communication between the authority and general public.
- It can help in reducing confusion in the event of a storm.
- World Meteorological Organisation(WMO) has divided the world ocean into basins. The responsibility of naming the cyclones are given to the respective regional bodies.
- In Indian seas, the names of cyclones are contributed by eight countries. They are Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Myanmar, Oman, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.
- When a cyclone occurs, a name is picked up by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) form the list in the order which names are submitted.

✔ Leher by India,
✔ Hud Hud by Oman,
✔ Nilofer by Pakistan.
