This was decided by the Indian government’s provincial department that all provinces should be united under a single state of Rajasthan, and for this work, extensive intelligence, farsightedness, patience and diplomacy was essential and because of this, the work was completed gradually with lot of care. Rajasthan’s unification was completed in 7 stages. However, there were difficulties in the direction of unifying Rajasthan
Explanation:
- Bhupal Singh, "Mewar Maharana & Dewan Sir SV Ramamurthi", State of Mewar, opposed this proposal and declared that a gloriously tradition 1300-year-old Mewar reign could not be renounced and could not erase its name on the Indian map.
- The provincial govt, by taking into account the "rigid attitude" of Mewar state, decided for the time ""being to leave Udaipur & merge the "south-east province" with "United Rajasthan". Kota was the biggest province in the "proposed United Rajasthan". The "decision" was taken by "Maharaj Bheem Singh of Kota" & by 25 March 1948 as the supreme head of "United Rajasthan". N. The new organization was opened by V. Gadgil.
- The "Supreme King" was appointed to Maharaj on the basis that it was larger than Kota, which was therefore not acceptable for Maharaj of Bundi. In order for Udaipur Maharaj to become the "supreme head" by implies of which the problems of Bundi Maharaj would have been solved, Bundi Maharao requested Mewar's Maharaja to merge into new state. Maharana gave the very answer to Bundi Maharaj which he gave the provincial dept several days ago.
- In Mewar an instant revolt was caused by Mewar 's choice not to be included with United Rajasthan . Mewar Praja Mandal's leader & member of the "Constitutional Committee"L Verma said that "Maharana Saheb &" his chief Ram Murthi" cannot make up Mewar 's decision alone concerning the fate of the "20 Lakh people". The clear policy of "Praja Mandal" was that Mewar would end his identity and join Rajasthan.
- His decision was still firm, however, Mewar 's political circumstances changed soon. In Mewar, a hurdle arose between the Mewar govt & Praja Mandal regarding the the Council of Ministers formation. If Mewar had "joined the union", this hurdle can be resolved. On 23rd March 1948, Maharana transmitted information on this decision in the United Rajasthan to the Indian govt in order to merge the Mewar & requested that the opening date be set on 25 March.
