The east of Madagascar is a area prevailing under high pressure. As you know that wind blows from high to low pressure areas, the rain bearing winds over Madagascar comes towards India along with the incoming monsoon winds.. In this way it also plays a well good role in bringing rain along the Western coast of India..

As Madagascar is a land mass so it has an high pressure comparatively to the water pressure ie indian ocean's pressure which disturbs the monsoon mechanism of the Indian monsoon winds ie South - west monsoon winds
