Adaption of plant epidermis living in dry habitats:

The plants which survives in dry habitats, epidermis may be thicker to protect against water loss in critical. The plant’s whole surface have outer cover of epidermis which protects every parts of plant.

Epidermal cells on aerial parts of plants often produce a waxy, water resistive layer on outer surface. This helps in protection against water loss, mechanical injury and invasion by fungi.
