a topic of big debate . basically the british force consisted of indian sepoys where the majority of them were brahmins. and not only the conversion to christianity was the reason for 1857 uprising rather it was the hurting the sentiments of hindu and muslim solidiers by using cow and pork greased cartridges also the soldiers were not treated well never allowed to raise in ranks given meagre salary...and the list goes on.... i will refer you to read the book "the struggle for indian independence "" it will surely help u understand history better and a book worth the read.
