ANSWER: The first world war helped in the growth of national movement in India for the following reasons :-
(i) The Britishers promised to give Independence to India, after the world war was over, but the Britishers used Indian army and gave India their Independence. This made the Indian Nationalists, peasants, revolutionaries aggresive and which reunited the whole India and led the National Movement.
(ii) After the end of first world War there were rumors about that a harsh peace treaty was imposed on the Khalifa. Muslims felt very oppressed by this act of Britishers. They wanted to protest against it. Gandhi saw this as an opportunity to unite Muslims with Hindus. He launched Khilafat movement to oppose it with the collaboration of both Hindus and Muslims.
