I dont know about the First World War, but the Second World War was one of the main causes of Indian Independence, because there were a lot of casualties in Britain, America, which made Britain much weaker than before, although they won the war. The whole India took inspiration from freedom fighters like Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh and crores of people rebelled. This caused the British to leave India as they were not in the state of fighting another war.
