higher electron affinity indicates higher resistance to gain an electron it means the atom is not ready to gain an electron it is ready to loose electron
this loosing of electrons takes place only with the metals with 1,2or 3 Valence electrons
hence the higher electron affinity favours ionic bond which takes place between metal and nonmetal..
