Indian history begins with the birth of the Indus Valley Civilization as evident from the sites at Mohenjo-Daro, Harappa, and Lothal which were earlier a part of the Indian subcontinent. ... The village of Balathal (near Udaipur in Rajasthan), dates back to 4000 BCE, illustrating the antiquity of India's history.

Explanation:

Prarthana Samaj

• Before the setting up of the Prarthana Samaj, a socio-religious organization known as the Pramhans Mandali was set up in Maharashtra It was an organisation dominated by the Chittpawan Brahmins like Gopal Hari Deshmukh, (who was popularly knownas Lokhitwadi), RG Bhandarkar etc

• The Paramhans movement worked for removing casteism and untouchability among the Maharashtrians It also worked for the spread of education and at times took up issues concerning women welfare. However, it was essentially a Hindu Revivalist organization with a tinge of orthodoxy.

• The Prarthana Samaj was set up in 1867 by Mahatma Atmaram Pandurang and has as its adherants some of the most enlightened Maharashtrians of the period like Maha Govind Ranade R.G Bhandarkar, Gopal Krishna Gokhale Bal Gangadhar Tilak etc.
