insectivorous plants release their digestive enzymes out of the body and digests the food outside the body.

once the food is digested it absorbs all useful material needed for it's body.

Most of the insectivorous plants like Venus fly trap , pitcher plant,sundew, butterworth etc have their own enzymes which helps them in digesting their prey as these enzymes rot the food and the plant absorb the nutrients .
