Land routes were the most important forms of connectivity between Europe and Asia, and all important cities along the routes are invariably the worlds continuously inhabited cities. The flow of goods, ideas, languages and ideas through land routes resulted great demand for Chinese silk and Indian cloth in Europe. The best example of these land routes is the Silk Route, so called because of the quantities of Chinese silk traded through it.The Silk Route stretched from Mainland China to present day Turkey. The other example of land route is the Tea Route which stretched from Yunnan in China to Bengal in India. The Grand Trunk Road is one of Asia’s oldest roads connecting Kabul to Chittagong. All land routes predated maritime routes and provided the first instance of international relations and foreign trade.
