✨for plantation workers in Assam freedom meant the right to move freely in and out of the confined place in which they were enclosed .

✨Swaraj meant retaining a link from the village from which they had come .

✨under the inland emigration act of 1859 plantation workers were not permitted to leave the tea garden without permission

✨when they heard of the non cooperation movement thousands of workers defied the authorities let the plantation and head home .

✨they believe that Gandhi Raj was coming and everyone would be given land in their own village .

The plantation workers in Assam had their own understanding of Mahatma Gandhi and the notion of Swaraj.

1) Under Inland Emigration Act, the workers were not allowed to move out of tea gardens without permission; they weren't given permission at all

2) Swaraj for workers meant moving in and out of the place they were confined and re linking to their villages where they were born.

3) When Non-cooperation movement started thousands of workers violated the act and fled away from the tea gardens.

4) They believed Gandhiraj was coming and everyone will be given land in their villages.

Hope it helps u^_^
