like there can be CLOTHES , WOOD , FURNISHINGS which we see in our day to day life. And if this wasn't the case (like if they weren't good absorbers of sound and poor conductor) our voice would've been reflected and re-reflected and made difficult to hear and there we would have got disturbance .

So, moving on to your question the problem of echo can be overcome by building up with wood and furnishings and you can also notice in your hall and if you'll notice there would've been some materials which are good absorbers and poor reflectors of sound .
