Hey!

Neither the father nor the mother is responsible for the sex of the child.
There are 50 - 50 % chances of having a boy child and having a girl child.
Males have XY chromosomes, while females have XX chromosome.
So, if the sperm containing X chromosome fertilises the egg in females (which obviously has an X chromosome) then the new born baby will be a girl.
If the sperm containing Y chromosome fertilises the egg then the new born baby will be a boy.
So, it's just luck or whatever. By chance, you can say.
PS - I know the cross I made is really quite messed up!
