The Tommie Smith and John Carlos were African American and an athlete ,who won the gold medal and bronze medal respectively in 200 metre at the Summer Olympics in 1968.
They both raised the voice against the racial discrimination in America .
Both the athletes wore black socks with no shoes to represent black poverty and their black gloves raised clinched fist symbolises black power.
These gestures were made to inform the world about the racial discrimination preveling in US.
After this reaction of both athletes their medals were taken back and made them guilty to raise voice in such Olympics.
