The Sati practice, child marriage and dowry were the social evils of the Indian society under the British rule which were removed by the renowned social reformers.

Sati practice was banned by Raja Rammohan Roy in 1829 by the Bengal Sati Regulation Act. On the other hand, Keshav Chandra Sen banned child marriage in the year 0f 1872.
