since u mentioned males so i m only answering the surgical procedure of males,,,,,

well...in males vasectomy is done in which vas deferens is cut and tied so the sperm which is formed in testis cannot reach the destination so it prevents conception

Surgical procedures block gamete transport and thereby prevent conception. In human males, the sterilisation procedure is called vasectomy, i.e. a small part of the vas deferens is removed or tied up through a small incision on the scrotum.
