Hii user
There is no sunlight available during night , so the process of photosynthesis doesn't occur. CO2 is required for the process of photosynthesis. During night , in the absence of photosynthesis, plants require to inhale Oxygen to complete the metabolism. ... So, they consume oxygen.

Trees takes oxygen at night because in night there will be no sunlight. The chlorophyll traps the sunlight and helps to make the food. The carbon dioxide is only useful to make foods, it does not have any other work so there is no sunlight available the trees can't make food and they use oxygen at night instead of carbon dioxide. So, at night there is no use of carbon dioxide
