How the war of kalinga brought a change in the attitude of ashoka

When Ashoka became the king, mauryan empire's part was not kalinga. 

He decided to control over kalinga. He invaded it and grabbed control over it.

But both the armies suffered huge losses. Over 1,00,000 people were killed in this war, and Over 1,50,000 were taken prisoners.

This caused ashoka much grief and guilt . So , he decided that he would not fight any more wars in future.

And within 50 years of Ashoka's death, the Maurya dynasty collapsed, in this war, about 100000 people were killed and people were taken captive to Magadha and the entire Kalinga region was set on fire, after this war Ashoka changed his heart. And he gave up violence. The description of this war is found in the 13 inscriptions of Ashoka.
