Daughter cells contain 23 pairs of chromosomes.  It is the same as that in the parent cells.

Sperm and ovum are haploids containing 23 pairs of chromosomes.  These chromosomes join to form a diploid cell with 46 chromosomes. These Chromosomes are paired and undergo meiosis. There 22 pairs of autosomes and one pair of sex chromosomes.
